Brandi Richards is a third-generation cattlewoman; she and her husband own and manage Diamond Cattle Feeders, a 20,000-head feedyard in Hereford, Texas. But her work in agriculture extends far beyond the feedyard. Since 1992, she has worked in veterinary product sales, providing cattle producers across the Texas Panhandle with vaccines, antibiotics and dewormers.
Brandi retired in 2025 and joined the feedlot fulltime. Outside of work, family is at the center of her life. She and her husband are raising two daughters, Madalyn and Lucy, who both compete in rodeo.
She has also dedicated her time to leadership and advocacy, including five years serving on the Texas Beef Council as a representative of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. In this episode, we talk about her journey as a cattlewoman, business owner, mother and industry leader, the importance of getting involved in agriculture.

Sami Jo Smith grew up as a pastor’s daughter and moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, when she was just five years old. The first time she saw Miss Frontier ride by, she knew she wanted to be part of that tradition someday.
Although she spent much of her youth as a competitive swimmer, Sami Jo was continually drawn to the western industry. With the support of her family and a local horse-loving family who took her under their wing, she found her way into the horse world and never looked back.
In 2012, Sami Jo achieved her childhood dream of becoming Miss Frontier, an experience she describes as both an incredible honor and a defining chapter in her life. Her first internship with the College National Finals laid the foundation for a career in event production, rodeo and a career in empowerment. Today, she is changing the sport of rodeo with Premier Women’s Rodeo, where she is helping elevate opportunities for women in rodeo and shaping the future of the sport.
